Description

  • Pietro della Vecchia
  • head of a bearded man, wearing a red cap and red shirt
  • oil on panel

Provenance

Carl W. Hamilton, New York;
By whom given to the present owner.

Condition

The support consists of two vertical panels cradled to the reverse. The paint surface is secure and in good condition with impasto remaining in the details of the hat and face, although the dark background is less well preserved and scattered retouchings are discernable to the naked eye in these areas. Inspection under UV light confirms this and reveals some other old retouching along that panel join. Offered in a modern composite frame in good condition
