Description
- Cornelis van Poelenburgh
- a landscape with the flight into Egypt
- oil on panel
Condition
The support consists of a single oak panel, with a shallow bevel along the upper horizontal and with a slight convex bow. The paint surface is generlally in excellent condition, although there are signs of lifting in the sky above the horizon. Furthermore there are some discoloured retouchings in areas affected by previous lifting and flaking, notably the upper left of the sky and the distant landscape. There is some restored damage along the extreme lower margin. The varnish is very dirty and the painting would benefit from a light clean.
Sold with a decorative gilt frame.
