STRUCTURE The board is in good condition and is providing a stable and even surface for the painting. PAINT SURFACE The painting appears to be in very good condition. There is a small amount of very minor paint loss along the extreme upper right edge, below the frame line, but otherwise there does not appear to be any damage or loss of paint. There is a slightly discoloured varnish overall which gives a slightly yellowed appearance to areas of the picture, particularly in the sky, upper left, but otherwise the picture is ready to hang. ULTRAVIOLET Examination under ultraviolet light reveals relatively extensive scattered retouching throughout the sky. The buildings appear to be relatively untouched, though there are a very small number of minor retouches. Ultraviolet also confirms the slightly discoloured varnish. FRAME Held in a gilded wooden frame, in good condition, with no apparent chips or areas of damage.
