Description

  • a crowd of women and children, all turned to the right
  • Black chalk heightened with white chalk on buff paper, squared for transfer in red chalk

Condition

Unframed. Laid down. There are losses to all corners, especially to the upper left. The sheet has a vertical split at the centre of the lower edge, along an old fold, and a nick along the same fold at the upper edge. A small hole at the upper centre left. There is a crease in the paper in the lower centre of the left half, which has caused some rubbing to the chalk. Overall, however, the condition is reasonably good, the chalk still strong.
