Condition
STRUCTURE
The canvas has a firm lining.
PAINT SURFACE
The painting appears to be in very good condition, and appears to have been cleaned. There is no apparent damage or loss of paint.
ULTRAVIOLET
Examination under ultraviolet light reveals an old horizontal tear measuring 2 in. in the extreme lower left, to which there is sensitive retouching. Above this there is a small area of minor retouching to past abrasion. There are one or two very scattered retouchings elsewhere but otherwise the painting would appear to be in largely original condition.
FRAME
Held in a gilded wood and plaster frame.
