Description

  • an extensive landscape with Saint John the Baptist
  • oil on panel

Condition

The original is a touch more yellow than it appears in the catalogue illustration. The stable support appears to consist of a single panel, cradled to the reverse. The paint surface is generally secure but in the central area shows signs of lifting along the lines of some old cracks, as visible in the catalogue illustration, and is under a dirty yellowed varnish. Inspection under UV light reveals retouching work to the aforementioned cracks and minor scattered work elsewhere. Offered in a git and stained wood frame in good condition if a little rubbed.
