STRUCTURE
The canvas has been lined.
PAINT SURFACE
The painting appears to be in good condition, with no apparent damage or loss of paint.
ULTRAVIOLET
Examination under ultraviolet light reveals retouching in the lower left and lower right, and down the left hand edge of the picture. There is infilling to craquelure in the hair, and scattered retouching in the background.
FRAME
Held in a carved and gilded Sunderland frame, with glazing over the picture.
