Description

  • a female saint receiving communion from an angel
  • oil on canvas

Condition

Despite the relining the canvas has lost some of its tautness. The canvas has been extended by 8 cm above, 5 cm to the right and left and three cm along the lower edge. The paint surface is dirty and under discoloured varnish. Minor paint losses are scattered, these are more concentrated in the lower half of the angel. Satisfactory inspection under UV light is hindered by varnish though some retouchings can however be made out. Offered with a wood and plaster frame with minor knocks. The picture would benefit from a clean.
