Catalogue Note

Le thème de la cariatide constitue, dans cette région d'Afrique de l'Ouest, une spécificité propre à la statuaire Attié. Concentrant l'effet visuel, il accentue le sentiment de force et d'équilibre, tout en mettant en valeur le visage projeté vers l'avant et ponctué, comme le dos, de scarifications en boutons faites de chevilles en bois rapportées. La très belle rigueur de la construction est mise en valeur par les perles rectangulaires en pâte de verre. Patine sombre, nuancée.
