Provenance

This cello belonged to a member of the Hamburg branch of the Guggenheim family.  The Guggenheims helped a German cellist by the name of Fromm to flee from Germany to New York in 1934.  Herr Fromm played this cello for many years, and after his death in c1970 it passed to the current owner.
