Catalogue Note

Simrock published the first edition of the complete vocal score in 1796, although selections and single arias were printed earlier.  Simrock reissued the score fifteen times, updating his advertisement: this present copy announces his editions of Winter's Die Labyrinth (1798) and Paër's Camilla (1799), but not Haydn's Die Schoepfung (1800) .  Few if any complete editions were brought out by other publishers in the meantime.
