Catalogue Note
Eighteenth-century manuscripts of French ballet music are of the greatest rarity at auction. Grétry's "drame mis en musique" in two acts, was performed with the suite, according to TNG an opera comique in one act. Evidently, however, the suite contained ballet music, as the title of the manuscript and its contents make clear. The performance markings in this copy make it an important source of information about ballet.
