Catalogue Note
Rare: Autograph and contemporary manuscript sources for popular music, especially as early as these, are of the greatest rarity at auction. These are the apparently unique contemporary sources for these songs, precursors of Salsa music in Cuba. Manuel Corona (1880-1950) was a guitarist in the group "Sexteto Boloña". Guillermo Castillo and Felipe Nerí Cabrera were members of the famous "Sexteto Habanero", that made important records in New York in 1925-1926. "Nosotros" by Pedro Junco (1916-1939), was first sung only in February on the radio station CMAB, after the composer's death, but became immensely popular. Antonio Fernández ("Ñico Saquito") (1901-1982) was a prolific and successful singer and guitarist. Please see also the following lot.
