Catalogue Note

These charming costume drawings, predominantly of female dress, were designed for a book of 29 coloured engravings published in Augsburg by the heirs of J.M. Moltz in c. 1750 (Colas 2571; Lipperheide 771). Some of these drawings are copies of the engravings, but some are originals and did not appear in the printed version.

For another group of these drawings, see lot 177.
