Catalogue Note

Wollick (or Volkyr de Serouville) studied music at Cologne University and his treatise on practical music, first published by Quentel in 1501, is one of the earliest German works on musical composition.

Although the binding on this volume is fairly modern, it seems very likely that the contents have been bound together for several centuries as they are from the same few printing houses and have annotations in the same or similar hands.
