Catalogue Note
A rare and comprehensive witness of Lissitzky's diplays and stands for the International Hygiene Exhibition, held in Dresden in 1930. Lissitzky designed several impressive and influential stands for international exhibitions, presenting the achievements of the Soviet state in a positive way (see also lot 193 for his contributions to USSR in Construction). His exhibitions were 3D creations, stretching from the floor up to and across the ceiling, with extensive use of lettering and photo-montage.
There are several photographs of people in front of part of the Soviet stand, of which two include Lissitzky himself.
