Catalogue Note

The ruralist poet Sergei Esenin committed suicide in December 1925 after writing a suicide note in his own blood. Such a dramatic end inspired the writing of several books by Kruchenykh and Mayakovsky, the latter of whom was to commit suicide a few years later.
