Catalogue Note
The Hylaeans were one of the main Futurist groups in Russia. The name came from the area of the Black Sea settled by the forebears of the Greeks, signifying that they harked back to pre-Classical primitive culture.
The title for the Burliuk illustrations has a printed dedication: "Ben, I dedicate the drawings to you; don't get cross about the misprint".
