- Autograph letter signed twice ("Claude Monet" and "Cl.M."), to his son Jean
- Paper
asking him to send some chemical fertilizers, and drawing materials, including ferrous sulphate, superphosphate, potassium sulphate and dried blood, requesting him to send these post haste to the station at Vernon; he also asks him to get Blanche (Jean's wife) to go to a nursery called "Marie" to find out if they have his favourite nasturtiums ("la fameuse petite Capacine Vivace"), and to send these too to Vernon

Catalogue Note
The letter is written to Jean Monet (1867-1914), who married his father's favourite step-daughter Blanche Hoschedé in 1897; Blanche was thus also Claude's daughter-in-law. She was a painter herself and looked after Monet in his old age.
