Platinum-Topped Gold and Diamond Serpent Brooch, Circa 1910

The intertwined serpent signifying love, set with old European-cut diamonds weighing approximately 5.15 carats, the eyes set with round rubies.

Good condition with minor scratching and nicking to the mounting; slight splitting between the gold base and the platinum top. Set with 74 old European-cut diamonds, approximately H-J color, predominantly SI clarity with some VS and I clarity examples. Minor chipping and abrading to some examples. The rubies are a medium pinkish red; one with light abrading. The brooch has a "softer" appearance than indicated by the printed catalogue illustration which looks washed out.
