Designed as a panther with an articulated head set with round diamonds, accented by buff-top sapphire segments, the eyes set with pear-shaped emeralds, set atop an invisibly-set sapphire bracelet composed of square-cut sapphires weighing approximately 28.00 carats, bordered by round diamonds, the clasp set with square-cut diamonds, the cat opens to reveal a rectangular dial pavé-set with single-cut diamonds, total diamond weight approximately 15.00 carats, manual movement, mounted in platinum and 18 karat white gold, length 6 3/8 inches, caseback signed Cartier, numbered A100199, maker's mark, French assay marks. With signed box.
Condition
Manual movement, currently running. Movement stamped Unadjusted 17 jewels Swiss. Caseback numbered A100199. With French marks and maker's mark L S bisected by a flower. Diamonds are approximately G-H color and VVS-SI clarity. The sapphires are a deep medium blue and are very well matched in color and cut and are of good clarity. A section of the bracelet near the case has been stretched, causing a slightly larger gap between the links than found in the rest of the bracelet. This will be repaired for the purchaser at Sotheby's expense; the repair is estimated to take 2-3 weeks to execute. The emeralds set at the eyes are a medium bright green. Very nicely made, of exceptional flexibility and in good condition. Fitted with a safety closure. The watch is worn with the panther's head pointing upward and can be opened by flipping the panther's right shoulder from the right to the left. To gain access to the crown in order to set the time, pull down on the thumbpiece found at the top of the caseback. Alternatively, press down gently but firmly on the crystal.
