Condition
Laid down on mount. Some discolouration at the margins from where glued to mount, particularly visible at the right edge and lower right corner. Four small, faint yellow marks (probably from the glue on the verso), one near the upper left corner, the other three near the lower left. Otherwise the condition is good, the watercolour strong and fresh.

Now known as Rosa setigera var. tomentosa, this is probably the finest wild rose from America, found from Ontario to Florida, and the parent of a whole race of hardy climbing roses.
