Condition
Laid down on mount at edges, which has caused some slight discolouration. Otherwise the sheet is in very good condition, the watercolour still strong and fresh.

Catalogue Note
Known in French as 'La Duchesse d'Orléans', this rose was an old variety re-named in honour of Princess Marie-Amélie of Naples and Sicily (1782 - 1866), wife of Louis-Philippe, Duc d'Orléans (1773 - 1850), who became King of the French (replacing Charles X) in 1830.
