Catalogue Note

The 'Agathe' roses were a group that the botanist Claude Antoine Thory considered hybrids of Rosa gallica. This particular example, which is now extinct, was one of the darkest.

Rosa foetida is now known as Rosa collina and grows wild in France, including the area around Paris.
