This canvas has been lined and the paint layer has been cleaned and retouched fairly recently. The most noticeable restoration is a vertical damage which runs from the upper center in the wall behind the figures, down through the right shoulder of the male figure in the center of the painting. These restorations are not immediately apparent under ultraviolet light but nonetheless they do exist. Elsewhere there do not appear to be any significant restorations and this seems to be an isolated damage, which enters into the window bars in the upper left corner. The signature and the details in the figures are all in healthy state. The painting should be hung as is. This condition report has been provided courtesy of Simon Parkes Art Conservation, Inc.
