Condition

This painting is in beautiful condition. It appears that the canvas has never been removed from its original stretcher. The paint layer is stable and the canvas is well stretched. It is very slightly relaxed in the upper left corner, but this could be easily tightened. The painting is not damaged and there are no abrasions or paint losses. In the clothing and arms of the figures on the far left and in the figure in the window of the train the paint layer is slightly thin. This is not the result of abrasion but seems to be the technique of the artist himself. Traditionally, thinning the paint in areas that are not as central is a way of drawing the eye towards the most important figure. In the sky, the paint layer is very dry and in good condition. The paint has dried to the point that it has become slightly spotty and milky here and there, which, since the picture is very slightly dirty, has become more noticeable. If the picture is lightly cleaned these small spots will no longer be an issue. There are two thin oval marks in the dress of the central figure which are on the surface and can also be easily removed without retouching. The condition is beautiful and in perfect state.
