Condition

The gold areas are scratched throughout and the color is uneven. There are some losses and nicks to the paint and to the gold leaf throughout: particularly around the fingers in the upper part of the chair, some of which appear to have been repaired. There are also losses to the surface on the front right foot where it meets the leg. The cowhide on the back has some stains of what appears to be pink paint, which could have been done by the artist at work. The studs/nails over the cowhide are also painted in gold and there are approximately eleven studs that are gone, with the majority of them missing from the left side of the chair. Furthermore, the hairs on the cowhide have come off in the area on the left side of the chair.
