Description

  • DIAMONDS, SAPHIRE AND 14 CARAT GOLD
The gold mesh bag to an arched frame pierced with an acanthus leaf design, accented with circular-cut diamonds with a cabochon sapphire push button clasp, to a curb and fetter link chain, measurements approximately 130mm x 105mm, signed Lebolt.

Provenance

By family tradition formerly in the collection of Eleanor May Guggenheim, daughter of Solomon R Guggenheim from Long Island, New York, USA.  She married Arthur Stuart, 7th Earl Castle Stewart on 16th December 1920.  According to family tradition this bag was a bespoke piece for Eleanor and she is depicted in family photographs holding the bag.

Condition

Stamped 14K for 14 carat gold. Cabochon sapphire with banding visible with magnification. Diamonds estimated total weight approximately 1.30 - 1.50 carats, bright stones, of mixed clarities. Bag weighing approximately 145 grams. Secure clasp. Scratches and indentations to frame consistent with age and wear. In very good condition.
