GEM-SET AND DIAMOND BROOCH, LATE 19TH CENTURY

Designed as a bird of paradise, set with circular-cut demantoid garnets, similarly cut diamonds and a ruby eye, later pin fitting.

Screw thread fitting to centre on reverse. Diamonds estimated to weigh approximately 1.30 - 1.40 carats, bright, lively stones. Demantoid garnets a vivid yellowish green, estimated to weigh approximately 1.00 carat. Tarnished and with scratches to reverse consistent with age. Could benefit from a careful professional clean. In good condition.
