  • DIAMOND, GOLD AND PLATINUM
Designed as a series of garlands millegrain-set with circular-, single- and rose-cut diamonds, to a knife-edge link back, length approximately 410mm, signed F.Chiappe, together with an associated case, necklace detachable, diadem fitting deficient.

Condition

Signed F.Chiappe to reverse of clasp. Estimated total diamond weight approximately 4.50 - 5.50 carats, of mixed colours and clarities. Two small diamond-set liks tarnished, possibly from jeweller's torch, not visible as worn, could benefit from a careful professional clean. Secure clasp. Well articulated. In good condition.

Catalogue Note

Filippo Chiappe 1863 – 1936, studied jewellery at the Academy of Arts in Massa, Italy. He later trained in both Alger and Paris.  He returned to Genoa to be a director at Vassallo and then founded his own business on the Via Roma, Genoa, later opening in Milan, Paris and Rome.  He is best known as a pearl connoisseur and liaised frequently with the famous Parisian pearl expert, Rosenthal. His classical and traditional creations gained worldwide recognition. Today the business is run by his nephews and it is located on the via XX Settembre, Genoa.
