  • signé Rodin (sur le côté droit à l'arrière du tertre), avec la marque de fondeur F. Barbedienne, Fondeur (sur la terrasse) et avec les marques VL frappées au tas deux fois (à l'intérieur) et la lettre L frappée au tas deux fois (sur la tranche)

Condition

Please note that measurements in inches are incomplete in the printed catalogue and should read 10 7/8 x 12 x 7 5/8 in. Dark green patina. There is a 0.5cm minor diagonal scratch on the lower part of the rock terrace, in line with the male figure's left foot. There is a 2mm nick to the forearm of the male figure as well as a small loss of patina to his shoulder. Apart from some areas of vertigris on the rock terrace and in the recessive areas, this work is in good condition.

Catalogue Note

signed 'Rodin' (on the reverse of the rock formation), with the foundry mark 'F. Barbedienne, Fondeur' (on the terrace) and with the marks 'VL' imprinted twice (on the interior) and the letter 'L' imprinted twice (on the edge), bronze with a green patina. Conceived in 1884, scaled down to this size in 1898, this version cast between 1906-07.
