Condition
Dark brown patina, richly textured surface. Work is set into a wooden base. Minor patina rubbing to the top of the figure's head and on his brow and nose, as well as his ears. Minor spots of acretion on figure's left shoulder. Work is in very good condition.

Catalogue Note
Ambroise Vollard, the artist's dealer at the time, cast an unknown number of Tête d'homme between 1906 and 1939. Douglas Cooper was reported to have said that this was the finest cast he had seen and considered it to be one of the earliest.
