Description

  • A YELLOW GOLD RECTANGULAR BACK-WOUND BRACELET WATCHCIRCA 1925 TANK OBUS
  • length 30 mm, interior bracelet length 175 mm
• cal. 409 manual wind movement, 16 jewels • silvered dial, Roman numerals, Breguet hands • monogrammed case back secured by four screws in the band, bullet-form lugs • integrated woven gold bracelet with deployant clasp • case signed European Watch & Clock Co., Inc. and hand-stamped with Cartier reference numbers, dial and buckle signed Cartier and movement signed Le Coultre 

Condition

The movement is running, however it may require service soon. The dial is aged with some spotting throughout. The monogram to the case back reads 'M.M.A., Jr.'. It is numbered 906510 and in the opposite orientation, what appears to be 1673, although this number is rubbed. The 8 of '18k' is also rubbed, however otherwise the stamps and numbers are quite crisp. The case shows surface scuffs throughout.

Catalogue Note

In the mid-1920s, Cartier began to experiment with fitting the classic Tank models with unusual lugs. One such example was the Tank Obus, the bullet-like lugs of which inspired by World War One.
