Description

  • A GOLD, AGATE, ENAMEL, RUBY AND DIAMOND-SET 8-DAY DESK TIMEPIECECIRCA 1920
  • height 8 cm
• circular movement, 15 jewels • gilt dial, guilloché center, Roman numerals to the matte chapter ring, hands set with rose-cut diamonds • white enamel bezel with gold squares, deep blue-gray agate case, the corners enhanced by cabochon rubies • dial signed Cartier, movement signed Lemania, strut hand-stamped with Cartier reference numbers • travel box

Condition

The movement is running, however it might need to be serviced soon. The top of the movement is numbered 18537. The back of the dial is hand scratched 2806. The underside of the minute hand is numbered 2293. Although Cartier is known to have been supplied with Lemania movements, the presence of numbers which do not match suggest that the movement is probably a replacement, although it is probably a replacement from Cartier, as it fits the case well. The dial has spots and scuffs throughout with some discoloration to the border in the minutes track between 4 and 7 o'clock. There are a few small chips to the enamel bezel near 4, 8 and 12 o'clock. The agate case is in nice overall condtion. The outside of the bezel is numbered 2806. The inside of the back is numbered 89905/81047 and 2807. The box is in lovely condition as well.
