The movement is running, however it may require service soon. The dial is very clean with no visible imperfections. The case shows some very light surface scuffs from light wear. Overall in nice condition. The strap of this wristwatch contains endangered species. Please refer to Important Notices for further information.

Released in 2008, Ref. 5450 was made in a limited series of 300 pieces. It followed the first two 'Advanced Research' models by the firm: Ref. 5250, released in 2005, and Ref. 5350, released in 2006.

With the first model, the firm unveiled the Silinvar escape wheel, and the second model supplemented this innovation with a Spiromax hairspring. Ref. 5450 completed this evolution by the addition of Silinvar lever, which transfers energy from the escape wheel to the balance wheel, resulting in the highly efficient Pulsomax escapement.

Originally known for its application to information technology, Silinvar is a semiconductor that is significantly lighter than the traditional steel, transmits energy more efficiently and can be shaped more accurately, making it an ideal material for use in watchmaking.

So that the wearer can admire the complex and cutting-edge Silinvar elements of the movement, Ref. 5450 also features a magnified aperture to the sapphire crystal display back. To this end, the bridge work and wheel train were also altered slightly for increased visibility.
