The Tourbillon 'Pour Le Mérite' was among the first watches A. Lange & Söhne produced, alongside the legendary Lange 1, Saxonia and Arkade models upon the firm's re-launch in 1994. This exquisite watch was produced until 1998, in a very limited series of only 15 pieces in pink gold with black dial, such as the current example. Furthermore, this limited series includes 15 pieces in white gold, 120 pieces in 18k yellow gold and 50 pieces in platinum. Thus, the present example numbered 107, is exceptionally rare and highly prized by serious collectors.

The Tourbillon 'Pour Le Mérite' is arguably one of the highest quality tourbillons ever produced. The chain-fusée mechanism equalizes the power of the mainspring, while the tourbillon cage counters the effects of gravity on the balance wheel. The power reserve indication enables the wearer to monitor the performance of the watch and the mainspring, particularly during winding.  This technical marvel is acclaimed with the prestigious German accolade  'Pour Le Mérite' presented by the German government for achievements in science and arts.
