  • A FINE GOLD AND ENAMEL TRIPLE CASED VERGE WATCH MADE FOR THE TURKISH MARKET CIRCA 1788
  • diameter 50 mm
• gilt full plate verge movement signed Markwick Markham Borrell London 23737, pierced and engraved balance cock, chain and fusee, silver dial for regulator • white enamel dial, Turkish numerals, gold beetle and poker hands • plain polished inner case, case maker's IK, diamond set pendant with banded white and red enamel decoration, central case with polychrome enamel scene of a bouquet of flowers, framed by red translucent enamel and outer turquoise heightened with gold, red and blue enamel, similarly decorated bezel, diamond thumb set piece, the outer case with similar floral pattern against a pink enamel ground • dial and movement signed, case hallmarked London 1788

Condition

Movement running , all functions appear fully operational while cataloguing. Enamel dial with a visible hairline on the left hand side, also chipped slightly to the edge. Inner gold case with a few bumps. Central case a tiny chip towards the outer bezel in white and blue enamel. Outer case with three minor missing enamel parts visible on the upper right and lower left hand side. Overall, this a well preserved example of triple cased verge watch made for the Turkish market.
