- A YELLOW GOLD AND ENAMEL PAIR CASED VERGE WATCH MADE FOR THE TURKISH MARKETCIRCA 1760
- diameter 44.5 mm
• gilt full plate verge movement signed Markwick Markham Perigal, London, pierced and engraved balance cock • white enamel dial, Turkish numerals • plain polished inner case, outer case with polychrome enamel scene of a ship with in a landscape, translucent enamel over engine-turning, framed by scalloped band with pink ground and foliate decoration • dial and movement signed
Condition
The verge movement will run but then stops, it will require a service. The dial has damage to the centre and hairline cracks between 2 and 4 o'clock. The inner case has light scuffs. There are slight areas of damage to the band of the outer case and scuffs to the central scene, but overall it is in good condition.
