  • A RARE AND POSSIBLY UNIQUE GOLD, ENAMEL, DIAMOND AND PEARL-SET MUSICAL LORGNETTE TIMEPIECE FOR THE ORIENTAL MARKETCIRCA 1810
  • diameter 65mm.
• movement with cylinder escapement and fixed barrel playing music on a pinned barrel with five tuned stack teeth, released on demand by means of a pin at 1 o'clock • dial with engine-turned centre and gold Arabic numerals, the surrounding polychrome enamel in tones of blue, black, red and green representing trophies of music, flags and a small crescent, the word carillon in gold at 11 o'clock • tear-drop form case with circular panel finely painted with a still life of polychrome enamel flowers issuing from diamond-set vase, pearl-set bezel, the case fitted with a retracting lorgnette, polished gold reverse, suspended from a short gold chain

Condition

The enamel in good order throughout and of the highest quality, music plays, the enamel to the handle of the lorgnette with some losses, the catch to release the handle is located on the band at the very bottom of the case. with a purpose made contemporary leather case.
