- A FINE PAIR CASED GILT VERGE WATCH CIRCA 1780
- diameter 49 mm
•gilt verge movement, pierced and engraved balance cock • white enamel, Roman numerals for the hours and Arabic numerals for the minutes, blued steel beetle and poker hands • gilt inner case with shagreen outer case decorated with piqué work to the bezel and back • signed on the movement
Condition
Movement not running properly while cataloguing, a service is recommended for it to be fully operational. Dial with a damaged part on the bottom, a chip on the VII and the 30, other parts with scuff on the surface. Inner case with signs of wear. The outer case has remained in an overall very good condition. The piqué work is a fine example from the period.
