  • TWO YELLOW GOLD TRIPLE CASED REPOUSSÉ VERGE WATCHESCIRCA 1750
  • diameters: 48.5 mm & 53.5 mm
the first: gilt full plate verge movement signed Cha. Newton, London, pierced and engraved balance cock • white enamel dial, arcaded minute track • repoussé inner case depicting Diana and Endymion, outer gilt metal and shagreen case • the second: gilt full plate verge movement bearing the signature Wm. Rivers, London, 1887, pierced and engraved balance bridge • white enamel dial, arcaded minute track • repoussé inner case depicting Alexander the Great in battle, outer gilt metal and shagreen case

Condition

The first: the movement is not running. Dent to the polished inner case. Chip to the enamel dial. Repoussé case worn and has lost definition considerably. Outer shagreen case missing glass to both sides but shagreen is intact. The second: the movement is fully wound and not running. Band to the inner polished case dented. Gold repoussé case in good condition. Outer shagreen case retaining glass to the one side but there is extensive damage to the decoration and shagreen.
