Description

  • Placido Costanzi
  • Reclining Venus
  • oil on copper

Condition

The copper place is flat, though in the bottom right corner it has bent a little. A few very small losses are scattered throughout the paint surface, one in particular in the top left quadrant of the composition. Under UV, a large area of restoration is visible along the drapery above the figures, and to their left. There are also some retouches visible to both the naked eye and under UV which are located below the left leg of the reclining figure. The figures themselves however appear to be relatively untouched by restoration. Only a few tiny retouches are visible but for the most part the figures are in favorable condition. In a carved and giltwood frame with small losses visible in the corners of the frame.
