Condition

Panel is flat, made from one piece of wood, and cradled for support. The painting has a rather old, milky varnish which appears to have become dirty over time, and as a result the painting appears slightly dirty to the naked eye. This varnish renders any older retouches mostly invisible under UV. On top of the varnish are a few more recent, scattered retouches. These are visible under UV, and perceptible to the naked eye as the brown highlights, mostly in the background, which appear to have discolored over time. Otherwise, the figures appear to have remained untouched, and are in good condition. In a carved and giltwood frame which has a small loss in the upper left corner, and a larger loss in the bottom right corner.
