Panel is uncradled and bowed from right to left. a horizontal batten is set into the bottom of the panel. there are numerous cracks in the panel, paint losses, old filled losses and abrasions as can be seen in the catalogue and online images. enough of the figures still remain and there is still nice detail on parts of both figures. punchwork is still well retained in halo of angel and in costumes of both the angel and Tobias. the painting has obviously suffered and we would recommend consulting with a professional conservator to determine what course of action should be undertaken to make the painting more presentable.
