Condition
The ruby case has dents to lid. The thumbpiece to lipstick is deficient as well as pin holding it in place in concealed compartment. To open the box, press on the hidden concealed panel at the front center of the box. To access the lipstick, grasp the bottom left corner of the box and pull the end panel away from you. The rubies are a medium deep purplish red and are of good clarity. Signed Mauboussin at top lip of inner lid. 3 3/8 x 2 1/4 x 3/8 inches. With the sapphire case the cent-+ral trasparent panel presents a refractive index of 1.54 and is doubly refractive, indicating rock crystal. The outer transparent panel presents an RI closer to 1.50 and is singly refractive, suggesting another material such as plastic. Sapphires are slightly varying shades of deep blue. Diamonds are of decorative quality. To open the box, press on the scored front panel of the box. Box is also faintly numbered F1862 near clasp. Minor denting and scratching to the box, but in good condition overall. 3 x 2 1/8 x 5/8 inches.
