Description

  • Tiffany & Co.
  • 18 karat gold, enamel, ruby, diamond, ivory, brooch
Set with round diamonds weighing approximately 1.15 carats, round and cabochon rubies, and bone tusks, applied with red, blue, green and white enamel, signed Tiffany & Co., designed by Donald Claflin.

Condition

Diamonds are approximately G-H color and VS clarity. The rubies are a medium pinkish purple color and are of good clarity. Enamelling is intact. Bone tusks may have been a later replacement. In good condition overall. Please note that the tusks on the brooch are composed of bone, not ivory as stated in the catalogue. Donald Claflin joined Tiffany & Co. in 1965 having previously worked for David Webb, Inc. Already a sought-after designer he was expecially popular with a younger generation of jewelry buyers who were drawn to his colorful and whimisical creations. This walrus brooch was inspired by the book 'Alice in Wonderland'.
