Pair of Silver, Gold, Diamond and Tortoise Shell Haircombs, Circa 1900

The openwork plaques set with old mine and old European-cut diamonds weighing approximately 1.50 carats, accented by rose-cut diamonds, mounted in silver-topped gold, completed by carved tortoise shell combs.

In good general condition with tarnish to the silver-topped mountings commensurate with age. The old mine- and rose-cut diamonds are approximately I-J color, VS-SI clarity. One small rose-cut diamond missing. The seams to the collars are visible on one comb (pictured at left in catalogue). The diamond-set plaques are hinged to allow for flexibility in styling. The tortoiseshell teeth are a shade darker than they appear in the printed catalogue illustration.
