Description

  • amethyst, gold, silver, diamond
The carved amethyst depicting a bust of a woman, the frame set with rose-cut diamonds, mounted in gold and silver, two diamonds missing.

Condition

The nose of the amethyst carving is significantly chipped, as well as chipping to the edges of the bust on the reverse; otherwise the carving remains crisp and in good condition. Diamonds are of decorative quality, two small diamonds are missing on the left side of the ribbon motif. Two pink stones mounted at shoulders are thought to be topazes, but unable to determine definitively as mounted, one is noticeably chipped. Silver or lead solder repair to a few places on the reverse, and one break remains unrepaired. Fitted with a 14K gold pin mechanism (a later replacement ) and a pendant loop. In fair to good condition overall.
