Description
- gilt-bronze and marble
- each 23cm. high; 9in.
each with a bead-and-reel rim above a baluster body, the handles in the form of entwined laurel branches terminating in a ribbed tapering strap, the lower section with an alternating band of acanthus and lotus leaves, on a trumpet foot with a band of ribbon-tied laurel on a square base
Condition
In overall good original condition-a most attractive model. Colour of the marble less pinkish and more cream coloured and gilding more golden and attractive than in the catalogue photograph. Good quality casting of the gilt-bronze mounts which are slightly dirty and would benefit from a light clean according to taste. Evidence of old glue where the gilt-bronze rim meets the body of the vase. Some very minor pitting and scratches to the marble and there is a slightly darker coloured stain near the rim but this is hardly noticeable due to the overhanging rim and the marble is slightly dirty. A leaf tip at the top of one handle on the other vase is missing but this is virtually imperceptible. The other handle on the same vase is a little loose but the screw can just be tightened up.
