Description

  • gilt bronze and porcelain
  • each 37cm. high; 1ft. 2½in.

Provenance

Rufford Abbey, Nottinghamshire
Tthen Gryce Hall, Huddersfield

Condition

In overall good original condition. Colour of gilding less greenish and stronger contrast of colours of the porcelain which are much more attractive than in the catalogue photograph. The gilt-bronze is slightly dirty and would benefit from a light clean according to taste. The rim of the pierced covers is slightly warped and one does not fit snuggly. The rams' masks on one vase are a little loose and just need the screws tightening up. There is a firing flaw to the socle of one but this is hardly noticeable and a very minor loss to the gilding below the guilloche band on the porcelain body of the other. The internal gilt-bronze rim of one is removable but can easily be refixed. Charming detail to the painting.
